How it is verified
Your browser sends the relay every hash with at least 6 leading zeros, and the relay recomputes it on the real candidate block, which pays your address. Mining time only counts while the relay grants your mining lease. Hashes are estimated from verified proofs: each one stands for about 16.8 million hashes on average.
Ranking higher does not bring a block closer: every hash has exactly the same chance.
